Abstract

The history of physics is an important thing to learn because it can provide a variety of knowledge. One of them is about the success achieved by previous scientists, so that it can inspire people to create something that is beneficial to human in various fields, not least in matters relating to energy sources. The rapid development of electronics has resulted in increasing demand for cellular resources. This is the background to the continuing changes in technological trends to the development of self-powered systems. Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is an energy harvester based on a self-powered system that produces electrical energy from external mechanical energy by combining electromagnetic induction and triboelectric effects. This study aims to describe the development of technological trends from what originally came from fossil energy to the discovery of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). Writing is done using the literature study method in which the topic of the discussion is focused on the history of the discovery of TENG, the figure behind the discovery, and the way of its applications in everyday life.
