Abstract

Figurative language is usually called a language that uses words or expressions with different meanings of real meaning. Figurative language can be used for anything like communication, articles, films, advertisements, novels, poetry, etc. This requires the reader to use his imagination to find out what the author meant. This study tries to analyze the figurative language contained in the song in Anne Marie’s debut album “Speak Your Mind” namely Ciao Adios, 2002, Cry, Bad Girlfriend. This main research aims to find the figurative language in Anne Marie’s song lyrics, so that song fans understand what the songs mean or mean. This is qualitative research using noninteractive methods consisting of questionnaires, documents, and non-participants to collect data. Theory of Kennedy and Gioia (2005: 118) and Harya, 2017 was used to identify the data in this study. The figurative language found in the four songs on this album consist of simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, irony, repetition.
