An Analysis of Stressing Words “A Day with A Stranger” in Fathia Izzati Video

Abstract

Speaking English is becoming an important skill in both the educational and non-educational worlds. The main goal of this study is to identify and figure out the most dominant stressing words error that made by Fathia Izzati and Agung Hapsah  in the video ‘A Day With A Stranger’. Moreover, This paper seeks to find out the stressing words realized in the video ‘ A Day With A Stranger’. The researchers used qualitative methods. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation by: (1) The researchers watched and try to understand the word stressed on the video A Day With A Strangers. (2) The researchers selected and sorted as well as focus and limit data collection. (3) The researcher analyzes the illocutionary acts that show from that performance in commercial advertisements. The researchers tabulating data that has been coded according to the required analysis. The results revealed that there were six stressing words error found in the video 'A Day With A Stranger' made by Fathia Izzati and Agung Hapsah. the dominant stressing words are realized in the video 'A Day With A Stranger' is noun as many as 44 of the total 87 words stress (51%), Verb as many as 18 words (21%). Adverbs with a total of 13 words (15%), and adjectives with 12 words (14%). For contribution in English teacher, the researcher suggest that teachers can use YouTube as a learning resource apart from print media such as student handbooks.
