Abstract

There are not many teaching materials for prose studies courses (in which there are theories, examples, and practice studies) in universities, so that through this research these needs can be met. Prototypes of teaching materials were produced using Borg & Gall's R&D research design, which were later adopted into 4 stages. In stage 1 (exploration) it is known the needs of lecturers and students for prose study materials containing theory and practice. Phase 2 prototypes of prose teaching materials (a collection of short stories in the perspective of social semiotics). Stage 3 is validation of the materials for teaching materials compiled by material experts and teaching materials can be used and can be used in prose learning in universities. Furthermore, in stage 4, revision of teaching materials is carried out based on input from material experts so that teaching materials can be more tested for reliability.
