Abstract

Dynamic Social Impact Theory (DSIT) is a concept that has been found decades ago as an attempt to understand the social dynamic that occurs within the society. This research’s objective is to explore personal characteristics from an individual’s ability to persuade others and their social power, also social characteristics from an individual’s position in the sociogram. This research’s participants are 100 active undergraduate students recruited with convenience-sampling. This research type is a descriptive study with an online survey to collect the data. Data were analyzed with a descriptive statistic, including mean and frequency. The result showed that individuals tend to interact with others of the same gender (59% for men and 76% for women). The participants showed interest to interact with a figure that plays a pivotal role, such as an individual in a central position, acts as a connector to other groups, and an individual with a higher level of connection. The figure with those roles showed a higher level of every aspect of network perceptions, such as authority, charisma, provides support, a role model in good behavior, including giving punishments. This study could help in addressing current trends, social phenomenon, and how perceptions or attitudes transformation could be done with a minimum effort.
