Abstract

The state guarantees the education of every citizen, both domestically and abroad, one of which is in Sabah, Malaysia. The form of the government's presence for them is by sending a number of Higher Education teachers to teach the children of migrant workers in Sabah Malaysia who are vulnerable to experiencing the erosion of National Identity. Because of this, historical consciousness must be owned by teachers of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Higher Education as capital to present a country they have never met before. The purpose of this study is to find out the importance of historical consciousness of teachers of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The method used is qualitative literature study. His historical consciousness is not just understanding cognitive concepts but is the result of understanding life processes through values ​​and meanings that are relevant to building the nation. Historical consciousness for PMI child teachers is absolutely necessary because historical awareness has an inseparable relationship with national identity and nationalism.
