An Analysis of Characters Development in Battleship Movie and Its Contribution in Drama Teaching

Abstract

The objectives on the study of this final project are: 1) to find out the types of character are mostly in Battleship Movie. 2) to find out the character development in Battleship Movie. Qualitative research is the method were used this research. There are several steps concluded in this research. The first step is open the browser to search the movie. The
second step is downloading the movie from the browser. The third step is watching the movie to collect the data. The fourth step is gets comprehension from the theories that will be the reference through the library studies. The fifth step is making limitation and focus on few characters on the movie. The sixth step is collecting data that will support the research. The seventh step is making the explanation of the data. The eighth step is making the conclusion from the research. The Ninth step is studying this research. The result of the study shows that from 6 character that became main focus, only 2 character that experienced character development they are Alex Hopper and Yugi Nagata. The writers also give more advice to the students to increasingly conceive the literary work especially on movie. By using movie as material, it would be more interesting and easily to figuring the meaning of phrases and to motivating the students on teaching drama.
