THE CULTURAL ANALYSIS OF IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS IN THE HANGOVER 2013 MOVIE BY TOD PHILIPS

This research is designed to explain the cultural expressions shown in the movie (The Hangover). The goals of this research are (1) to find the idiomatic expressions used in the movie (Hangover) and (2) the types of idiomatic expressions described in the movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The researchers completed several steps: All The Hangover films with English and Indonesian subtitles were retrieved from www.Subscene.com. The researchers put idiomatic expressions in films based entirely on Indonesian subtitles. Idiomatic expressions can be the focus of this step after the researcher analyzes the method of developing idiomatic expressions in The Hangover movie. Based on research the researchers identified 35 idiomatic expressions from the Hangover movie. There are three types of idiomatic expressions. There are 3 Trinomial, 7 Euphemisms, and 25 Fixed statements that can be consistent statements.
