Penerapan Problem Based Learning (PBL) Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa SMP/MTs Pada Materi Kalor Dan Perubahannya

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peningkatan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII di MTs Miftahul Ulum Mranggen menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi kalor dan perubahannya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan penelitian eksperimen. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah kelas VII E sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen. Rata-rata nilai siswa setelah diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih tinggi yaitu 87,52 dibandingkan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol yang tidak diberi perlakuan yaitu 81,33. Hasil Uji kesamaan dua rata-rata diperoleh thitung> ttabel, sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik disbanding kelas kontrol. Rata-rata N-Gain kelas eksperimen diperoleh koefisien sebesar 0,47 berada pada kategori sedang dan kelas kontrol diperoleh koefisien sebesar 0,28 dengan kategori rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP/MTs pada materi kalor dan perubahannya

Abstract: This study aims to test the improvement in critical thinking of seventh grade students at MTs Miftahul Ulum Mranggen using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on heat material and its changes. This type of research is quantitative descriptive with an experimental research approach. The sample in this study was class VII E as the control class and class VII A as the experimental class. The average value of students after being treated using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model was higher, namely 87.52 compared to the average value of the control class that was not treated, which was 81.33. The results of the similarity test of the two averages obtained tcount > ttable, so it can be said that the critical thinking skills of the experimental class students are better than the control class. The average N-Gain of the experimental class obtained a coefficient of 0.47 in the medium category and the control class obtained a coefficient of 0.28 in the low category. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the critical thinking skills of SMP/MTs students on heat material and its changes.
