Improving Adjective Vocabulary through Crozzword Puzzle in VII C Grade of SMP Negeri 37 Semarang

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research was to observe how Crossword puzzle can be used to increase the adjective  vocabulary of the students. The lack of motivation to learn English and the first time the students to learn English make their learning result  was low. As the result, the writer tried to use Crossword Puzzle to solve those problem so that the students can increase their vocabulary in fun way. The subject of this study was 33 students of VIII C grade of SMP Negeri 37 Semarang. Data is collected in one cycle through tests, classroom observations, and documentation. The tests were carried out in the form of pre-test, post-test cycle I, and post-test cycle II. The instruments used are test sheets, observation guidelines, and documentation guidelines. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods.  The result of this study showed that there was a significanat increase in students accomplishment in pre-cycle (21%) to the second cycle (90.1%). So, it can be concluded that the use of Crossword Puzzle can improve students achivement.
