Abstract

From the results of observations made in class 4B at SDN Rejosai 01, it was found that students' writing skills in Indonesian language subjects were still lacking. So far, Indonesian language teaching in schools tends to be conventional, rote, and unfriendly to efforts to develop students' language skills. This is especially the ability to read and write. This kind of pattern only makes students feel bored with learning Indonesian. The description of the implementation of Indonesian language learning is a picture of what happened at SDN Rejosari 01. Based on research, especially in class IV, there are still many students who think that learning Indonesian is boring. Even without studying Indonesian, they assume that they can already speak Indonesian. Apart from that, teachers have not used media that attracts students' interest in learning to compose. The lack of media used by teachers results in limited ideas emerging from students. Students' ideas that are less connected to real life through media can be an inducement for these ideas to emerge and be put into writing. The existence of limited media results in student learning outcomes in writing skills being very low.

Based on the problems above, the researcher wants to carry out an update, namely by using Diorama media, which is expected to attract students in the process of delivering material about writing travel reports and can be understood well by students and improve their Indonesian language narrative writing skills.
