Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students' motor skills and learning outcomes in shot put through the use of modified learning aids. The background of the study is rooted in the low engagement and poor mastery of shot put techniques among students, primarily caused by fear of using the standard shot, which is heavy and hard. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model of Classroom Action Research, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 34 students of class X-9 at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang. Data were collected through observation, performance tests, and documentation. The results show a significant improvement in both motor skill performance and learning outcomes. The percentage of students who achieved the minimum mastery criteria increased from 55.9% in the first cycle to 82.3% in the second cycle. Furthermore, students’ active participation, confidence, and mastery of techniques improved considerably. The use of modified learning aids proved effective in creating a safer and more enjoyable learning environment, encouraging active student participation. This study concludes that modified tools are a practical and effective strategy to enhance the quality of physical education learning, particularly in shot put.
