Abstract

This study aims to improve the biographical writing skills of class X DPIB 1 students at SMK Negeri 4 Semarang through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model combined with the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 36 students of class X DPIB 1 in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through written tests and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed that the application of the PjBL model with the CRT approach could improve students' learning outcomes in writing biographical texts. This was evident from the increase in the percentage of learning mastery, which rose from 41.7% in the pre-cycle to 69.4% in the first cycle, and further increased to 88.9% in the second cycle. The average student score also increased from 67.4 in the pre-cycle to 74.7 in the first cycle, and reached 86.4 in the second cycle. These results prove that culturally responsive project-based learning is effective in enhancing students' biographical writing skills.
